HOOF INJURY
WARNING
PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE GRAPHIC IMAGES SHOWING THE INJURY BELOW
This horse got his foot stuck in a closing door, resulting in a severed collateral artery in the coronary band of the hind foot as well as some hoof wall damage. With the assistance from Westhills Vet, we got him stitched up. Stall rest, medication, bandage changes, and some laser therapy was our very important next steps to prevent infection and promote the healing process.
Eventually we brought in a very creative farrier, Joe Bedell, to help us create the perfect supportive shoe and some metal soldering to stabilize the hoof wall while it grows. While it was a project, we managed to have this horse feeling back to himself and a healthy hoof grow back so there is no future issues for him!
We were able to achieve his first ride back under saddle after just 9 weeks of rehab! He went from being down and out, to flying over jumps once again!

“Without the knowledge , experience and determination of the Sublime Rehab team, the outcome could’ve been completely different. I could not have done it without them. He made a full recovery and we are back competing and I’m so grateful!”
